Let’s talk about something that’s a question for a lot of you guys: Sharing your Writey subscription with your family. It’s quite easy and it lets everyone benefit from the lessons without needing multiple subscriptions. Here’s a quick guide on how to do it, with clear steps to help you out.
Steps to Share Your Writey Subscription:
1. Add Your Family to Your Apple Account
First, make sure that your family members are added to your Apple Family Sharing group. If you haven’t done this yet, you can find a step-by-step guide on Apple’s website here. If any of your family members don’t have an Apple ID, don’t worry! There’s a guide to create one here.
Here’s how you can do it (On your iPhone or iPad with iOS 16 or later):
- On your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, go to Settings > Family
- Tap Add Family and follow the prompts to invite them.

2. Install Writey on Their Devices
Next, your family members need to have Writey installed on their devices. Head to the App Store, search for Writey, and download the app. It’s available for both iOS and macOS, so make sure they install it on all the devices where they want to access the lessons.
3. Restore Purchase to Unlock Writey for Family
When Writey is installed, here’s what your family member needs to do:
- Open Writey on their device.
2. Tap the Menu

3. Select Restore Purchase.
This will instantly unlock all the lessons and content from your subscription for your family member to use.
What if My Family Member Doesn’t Have an Apple ID?
If your family member doesn’t have an Apple ID, no worries! You can easily create one for them by following this guide from Apple.
What if I encounter issues while restoring the purchase?
If the “Restore Purchase” button doesn’t work right away, make sure your family member’s device is logged into their Apple ID, and that they are part of your Family Sharing. Double-check that the app is updated to the latest version, too.
You can easily share your Writey subscription across multiple devices, as long as they’re connected to your Family Sharing account. It’s a great way to get the most out of Writey while keeping the whole family involved in their handwriting lessons.
